What comes up into your head when I say – “you have to eat your greens!”?
Well, if you’re like me, you would probably ask: well ok, but why? How can it benefit my body?
So, it’s your lucky day 🙂 That’s exactly what I’m about to tell you 🙂
Green vegetables (those with all the leaves) are the most basic food that exists on earth. The reason for that is that they naturally contain large amounts of minerals, vitamins, chlorophyll and oxygen. Ha?!
What it means is that they are super helpful for all kinds of small processes in our metabolism.
You’re probably asking your self: what does it has to do with me?
Well, your body acts also like a small factory and it needs a lot of components to make it happen.
We all have bacteria in our bowel. Don’t panic, it’s naturally there and we need it. We are born with it. The bacteria can be good and also not that good, but that’s also natural. The optimal situation is when the bacteria is balanced. However, the problems begin once the balance between the good bacteria and the bad is broken. That’s when it’s easier for diseases to begin.
This balance can be broken for so many reasons, and most of us go thought years without even notice or know that, because it takes a long time for the body to show symptoms of a long term disease. For some of us it would be different and we will notice small things like hair loss, stomach ache once in a while after eating, bad skin condition and all kind of other symptoms that we will never think about the connection between them and our bowel bacteria. That’s why it is really impotent for us to combine basic pH foods in our daily nutrition. And that’s where the greens are coming into the picture.
Thanks to all the amazing nutrients that green veggies contain, they are the most basic foods out there. And by combining them in our daily menu, we can maintain our bowel basic pH levels and by that protect our body from different diseases.
Some of my favorite ways to eat more greens are the obvious – salads and smoothies 🙂 That way I can nourish my body with a lot of nutrients in an easy way and without thinking about it to much.
